Tavern LA

hope everyone had a lovely thanksgiving holiday. i am recovering from all the delightful treats i had (probably one too many treats!) - but the time off was great looking forward to christmas and new years now.

last week when sarah was visiting we made lunch stop at tavern in brentwood. it's been on my go-to list for a long time so i was glad we made the trip. the space is one of the best restaurant space's i've been to. they have three different rooms, all with a unique feeling but all cohesive together. you can see a little tour here. you see that tree in the middle of the room, thats real! for lunch we the shrimp & crab and a chopped chicken salad, both light but filling.

well, where did the year go! it's already thanksgiving time. i am spending the weekend in san francisco where some friends and i will be cooking up a feast. wishing you all a wonderful holiday.

although i've been to san diego several times now, and i've been given lots of food recommendations for the city - i always find myself back at whisknladle. this time sarah and i decided to try their sister restaurant prepkitchen. we headed down to the la jolla location for lunch. the restaurant small but absolutely charming, with a covered patio as well as a small indoor communal dining area.


i ordered the beet, tangerine, goat cheese & avocado salad – sounds weird right? nope freaken amazing. sarah ordered the winter squash panini, squash, gruyere, quince mostarda, pear & fried sage – as soon as we took a bite we kept talking about how we could whip up our own salad version of this delightful panini.

Bottega Louie

what a weekend! my dear friend sarah came to visit and as always we spent a lot of time eating. we went to my favorite brunch spots - bottega louie. i got the ahi tuna niçoise salad and sarah ordered the smoked salmon, two thumbs up for both!

of course we had to finish things off with a little bit of dessert for breakfast, raspberry beignets!

do you wear contact lenses? check out this awesome case design by beverly moon. i've always been annoyed at the screw on, pop on cases for at home use. i never even screw them on most of the time, so im thankful for beverly's design. help her fund her project on kickstarter for $40 you can back her up and receive 1 MOON lens case (retail value of $60). yes $60 might be a little steep for a contact case but lets think about it really... when have you ever bought a contact case in your life - you know they are always free from the doctor!

Lunch in Atlanta

even though it is still early november i am looking forward to spending some time back in atlanta in december. besides getting to see some familiar faces, there are definitely a few places i want to grab some grub at!

Bacon Chocolate Chunk Cookies

sunday morning was filled with rain, so instead of my usual volleyball routine i decided to make some bacon chocolate chunk cookies also known as 'infamous' bacon cookies from the primal palate. since i've started eating like a cavegirl, i've searched for blogs that have paleo recipes with good photography and hayley and bill from primal palate definitely have most paleo bloggers beat. i ordered their new book "make it paleo" and i've been enjoying new recipes, if you're interested in eating primal or just looking for good recipes i'd recommend this book.
